Project Background
EW Nutrition is a globally - recognized animal nutrition company. It offers all - around customer solutions for animal intestinal health management, antibiotic reduction, young animal nutrition, toxin risk management, etc., to animal feed factories and self - producing farmers.
In 2018, with the goal of expanding its business in China and supplying products to Southeast Asian countries, EW Nutrition approached S&L. Their initial plan was just a single mixer project. However, after in - depth discussions with S&L engineers about their requirements and ideas, they decided to entrust S&L Group with a turnkey project. This project included the design, fabrication, installation, control, and commissioning of the entire production line.

The production process involves weighing, metering, and transporting three or four different formulas to the mixer. After mixing, the products are packed. Moreover, some products require liquid spraying during the mixing process. Through multiple rounds of discussions and program revisions, the final design process is as follows:
Step 1: Raw Material Preparation
Large bags of raw materials are hoisted to the top platform using an elevator. Then, the raw materials are manually loaded into the weighing silo. The silo's capacity can meet half a day's production requirements.
Step 2: Material Weighing, Measuring, and Conveying
Each silo is equipped with a weighing sensor. The conveyed materials are measured by weighing and then transported into the mixer via a screw conveyor with frequency - conversion speed regulation.
Step 3: Adding Small Materials
After the main materials are added, the small materials are pre - weighed and directly loaded into the mixer manually. Once the control button is clicked for confirmation, the mixer starts the mixing process.
Step 4: Mixing Process
Upon completion of the mixing, the materials are automatically discharged into the finished product silo.
Step 5: Packaging
The mixed products are packed in 25kg aluminum foil bags and woven bags, which are heat - sealed with aluminum foil. Due to the low bulk density of the materials, some air is generated. Eventually, the customer chose an aluminum foil bag with a breathing valve. First, the air is removed, and then the woven bag is sewn.

The production line is semi - automated. Except for raw material preparation and product packaging, the process is controlled by PLC automation. The designed production line only needs 2 workers, which significantly reduces labor costs.
Installation, Commissioning, and Production
It finally took 60 days to finish the installation of all mechanical and electrical equipment. After a week of material testing, the entire line was successfully commissioned. Each feeding port is designed with a dust - removing system, and air guns are installed on each floor for daily cleaning. During the installation process, S&L engineers overcame numerous difficulties to ensure the line is more user - friendly and meets the customer's requirements.

So far, the production line has been using for 3 years, and the customer, EW Nutrition, is highly satisfied with S&L's products. Recently, EW Nutrition acquired the feeding and pigment business of Novus. They plan to add new production lines in Nantong to meet the needs of the Chinese market and expand their product portfolio in the future.
